About Debbie
Debbie is an established Scottish artist, regularly exhibiting and selling her work throughout Scotland and beyond. She enjoys working with bright vibrant colours and texture, using acrylic and mixed media.
Her inspiration is through observation of her surroundings. She paints beaches, harbours, seascapes, ancient and modern structures, featuring the geography of the west coast of Scotland, in particular, the islands.
Her uniquely textured and layered contemporary artwork often incorporates local materials such as Harris Tweed or cuttings from printed media. She likes to draw the viewer into the painting thereby encouraging further investigation of the piece.
Debbie learned her trade under the tutelage of renowned artist Joan Lawson (Robinwood Art School), and has been accepted for the annual Paisley Art Institute exhibition. She won the Willa Revie Award for her ‘Malala, not just a pretty face’ piece at the annual exhibition at the Maclaurin Art Gallery, Ayr.
She enjoys working with and learning from other artists at workshops and at other shared creative experiences. She likes to pass on her knowledge and expertise through demonstrations to local art groups.
She would describe herself as a ‘contemporary Scottish Colourist’.
